The October Edit: What I’m Wearing, Reading, and Pouring

It’s a rainy October Sunday here in New Jersey. I’m getting ready for yoga, a walk with the puppy (if the rain lets up), and an afternoon of baking sourdough. The loaves are from the Oregon Trail starter a dear friend gave me, and I’m so excited.

While the bread bakes, I have every intention of cleaning and organizing. My closet needs a fall refresh and my pantry is a disaster.

This week I’m looking forward to a Friday date night to see Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. I love a night at the theater, and I can’t wait to see how they stage this one. It’s perfect for an October evening. I’m planning my outfit now, inspired by my fashionable friend Aimee and her cute lady jacket with dark denim. Finding my own version has been my shopping mission this week.

October can feel long. There are no days off at work, the sunlight is fading, and the dark creeps in early. What gets me through is the people in my life and the holidays ahead. I’m especially excited for Thanksgiving this year: the smells, the family and friends, the cooking and chopping.

1. Wearing and Shopping

  • Doesn’t this just look like the coziest thing to wear around the house?

  • Country club meet tennis, just ordered in houndstooth

  • One of my goals (and dreams) is to visit the national parks, this game looks like so much fun and a learning experience/motivator as well

  • Loving this in the burgundy and like the idea of pairing it with suede shorts and a kitten heel or boots

  • A great shell to wear under a lady jacket or blazer, I ordered in green

  • Such a great, slouchy bag, I love it in green

  • The perfect dark denim. I love the pleats, make it look dressier and polished. Perfect for a pretty shell, blazer/lady jacket

  • I am very excited that I scored this jogger set in Storm. This is the perfect travel day outfit, IMO ( I got the joggers and half zip, for under $70!)

  • I tried these on yesterday, in store, and immediately ordered online in my proper size. THey are the perfect baggy and perfect slouch, so soft and cozy (Get 50% off with code: LONGWEEKEND - what a steal!)

  • This feels like a “Freddy Kruegar” sweater to me! Perfect for Halloween season!

  • Love the red stripe on this sweater

2. At Home

3. Reading

  • Reading this for book club. I’m not quite sure what is going on yet? It's a bit slow, but I am really enjoying it! So far all that have completed in our club have been raving about it!  My friend, Aimee, Loved it as well

  • Re-reading Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None”, in preparation for my show Friday!

  • I had started this and then it expired, giving it another try!

4. Pouring

  • We have been really enjoying the non-alcoholic, healthy, Melati concentrate. We love to mix it with Zevia Gingerale, and add some fun accoutrements, like cucumber, lime, or ginger. I made a basil smash which was refreshing as well!

  • I have been back on the wine wagon. I love a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc

5. Last Call

Read: The Difference Between Rest and Numbing (I struggle to rest)

Watching: Below on Netflix, it really has my attention!

Skip: Helpless

Closing

  • Looking forward to next week's trip to Lambertville! I will share all the details next weekend!
